Stylepark in Residence - touchy-feely

Ein neues Gebäude und ein neues Konzept, aber weiterhin spannungsreicher Anziehungspunkt für alle Designbegeisterten - das war die vierte Ausgabe von 'Stylepark in Residence - touchy-feely' anlässlich der imm cologne vom 15. bis 21. Januar 2007.

Wie nicht anders erwartet, hat der Umzug aus der ehemaligen Bahndirektion in das Gebäude des Kölnischen Kunstvereins und das damit einhergehende neue Ausstellungsformat lebhafte und kontroverse Debatten ausgelöst. Genau das war beabsichtigt. Mit der Konzentration auf kuratierte Ausstellungen und Präsentationen ausgewählter Designer, dem Ausblick auf 'The Design Annual' 2007- inszeniert vom Frankfurter Designer Knut Völzke, Leise - und der Vorstellung der neuen Materialplattform Materialworks hat Stylepark für die Kölner Designwoche ein neues Veranstaltungsformat etabliert. Nicht mehr die Vielfalt in Form von Einzelpräsentationen steht nun im Vordergrund, sondern die konzentrierte Standortbestimmung dessen, was die Protagonisten des Designs momentan bewegt. Sei es die "tanzende" Welt der Inspiration einer Patricia Urquiola, das sperrig-elegante Gartenhaus Walden von Nils Holger Moormann oder die ironisch-theatralische A&W Designer des Jahres-Ausstellung von Konstantin Grcic. Die positiven Reaktionen, die kritischen Anmerkungen und die intensiven Gespräche haben uns ermutigt, diesen Weg auch in den nächsten Jahren fortzusetzen und weiterzuentwickeln.

Freuen Sie sich auf 'Stylepark in Residence' 2008 vom 14. bis 20.Januar 2008, wieder im Gebäude des Kölnischen Kunstvereins.

A new building and a new concept - but the same exciting magnet that attracts all the design enthusiasts - that was the fourth edition of 'Stylepark in Residence - touchy-feely' on the occasion of the imm cologne from January 15-21, 2007.

Just as expected, the relocation from the former Federal Railways head office to the building of the Kölnischer Kunstverein and the related new exhibition format triggered a vibrant and controversial debate. And that was exactly as we had intended. The concentrated focus on curated exhibition and the presentation of selected designers, the outlook on 'The Design Annual' 2007- staged by Frankfurt-based designer Knut Völzke, Leise - and the introduction of the new material platforms Materialworks, made certain that Stylepark established a new event format for the Cologne design fair week. The emphasis is no longer on the diversity of single presentations, but on a concentrated endeavor to take stock of what currently moves the protagonists of design. Be it the "dancing" world of inspiration of an Patricia Urquiola, the Walden bulky-yet-elegant garden house created by Nils Holger Moormann or the ironic-cum- theatralical A&W Designer of the Year show mounted by Konstantin Grcic. The favorable responses, the critical remarks, and the intense discussions we had all encourage us to continue down this path in the years to come and advance it further.

So look forward to 'Stylepark in Residence' 2008 from January 14-20, 2008 - once again at the Kölnischer Kunstverein.
